Transformer Pad Infinity by ASUS gets a release date
Asus has announced that the Transformer Pad Infinity will become available for purchase on Amazon beginning August 31st.
The Transformer Pad Infinity improves upon previous Asus tablets in that it's the first to launch with Android 4.0 (though other models are upgradeable to this), its Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset runs at up to 1.6GHz as opposed to 1.3GHZ, and most importantly it has A 1,920x1,200 screen resolution with AN ultra-bright IPS display for excellent video quality.
The Transformer Pad Infinity compares to the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime – Asus's previous version of this tablet – in that both run on the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU. The two tablets have dual cameras, with an 8MP camera in the back for taking pictures and a 2MP camera in the front intended for video chatting. Each tablet also allows you to use an attachable keyboard dock for tasks that require more involved typing than what tablets usually permit. At 64GB, the Transformer Pad Infinity doubles the storage space of its predecessor, although both have microSD slots for additional storage.
Asus has said that the initial price of the Transformer Pad Infinity will be £600. This is over £100 more than what Amazon is currently charging for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. It sounds a little much to us for a HD screen, even considering the other upgrades.
We have a review sample in the office now and will get you a full breakdown before the end of the week.
